About
Brook Ferris is an interdisciplinary artist whose practice centers on documentary photography and long-form visual storytelling, in addition to work in watercolor and experimental sculpture. Alongside her documentary work, Ferris has explored historical photographic techniques and alternative processes through separate material investigations that consider how photographs function as records, evidence, and memory. Working primarily with photography, her work examines place, labor, and lived experience through sustained engagement and close observation. With over a decade of experience behind the camera, Ferris’s practice is shaped by research-based fieldwork and sustained relationships, often unfolding over extended periods of time. Her work is grounded in close observation and ethical engagement, prioritizing care, accountability, and reciprocity in the act of documentation.
